Andrew, Leila, Mother, Wendy, ~ 04

{Leila’s House + Mother ~ 4}
``Mother: Did I hear someone knocking [Bang - Bang] and was it on the back door? Surely not, is that my daughter? --- Hang-on I’m coming. I am slipping on my dressing gown. These stairs are getting steeper [Opens the back door]. ``Leila: Greetings! ``Mother: How wonderful [Hugs] You two girls are home.

``Leila: Any one would think we have been away for a year! ``Mother: Oh it is lovely to see you back, and you do look well. I have been a worried sick about you, especially as we have not heard from you. ``Wendy: We are sorry Mum, but we could not send you a post card. ``Mother: Who cares, you’re back home, safe and sound. Would you like a drink? Are you hungry? ``Leila: We are both dehydrated and our legs are very weak from the long journey, so we would both love a coffee please, and can we sit down for a while, as we feel a little travel sick. ``Mother: Anything dear, I’ll put the kettle on! You put the fire on.

``Wendy: Look at the calendar on the mantelpiece! It is true we have been away for just under a month. So it is Friday making it 4 weeks today. --- Mother: Here you are girls --- Coffees and some biscuits. ``Leila: Thanks Mum --- Mother: You will have to tell me, all about it! Where have you been, and what have you been doing, because it’s weeks since you left? ``Leila: We will Mum, of course, but all in good time. Everything okay with you? ``Mother: Yes, son will be pleased, as he did not know where you were, so he reported it to the police, in case you had been kidnapped or something. ``Leila: We did warn you that we would be out of communication. ``Mother: I’ll give him a ring later. What’s that lovely necklace you are wearing? ``Wendy: Oh, you like it? It was hand crafted, especially for us, and we have one each. ``Mother: I have never seen anything like it! --- ``Leila: Mum, I suddenly feel hungry and I fancy one of your bacon sarnie! ``Mother: Certainly dear, and one for you Wendy? ``Wendy: Yes please, with brown sauce. ``Mother: Give me 5 minutes; I’ll be right back. --- Bacon sandwiches will be ready in a minute.

``Leila: I think we had better stay with mother for a while until she has time to ring Andrew, and get any other news. Then I will drive you home and we can both meet up this evening. ``Wendy: Approved. ``Leila: You are sounding more like an alien! ``Wendy: Oh! Sorry. ``Mother: here you are --- Get that down inside you! ``Leila Thanks Mum. --- It tastes different today. Afterwards Mum, we would both like to use the bathroom so we can freshen up, and have a change of clothes. ``Mother: Certainly dear, you have some dresses upstairs that you never wear. ``Leila: Okay, I’ll see what I can find for both of us to wear.

[1 hour later]
``Leila: Mum has that kettle boiled dry yet? ``Mother: That looks nice, and that too is pretty. Same again on the coffees? ``Leila: Yes. ``Wendy: Yes please. --- Wendy: Thanks. ``Leila: Thanks Mum. ``Mother: Andrew should be up now! I’ll ring him. --- ``Andrew: Mum? ``Mother: They are here; they have come home at last. ``Andrew: Great news, is my sister okay? ``Mother: Yes, they are both just a bit tired and looking rather brown. ``Andrew: Where have they been? ``Mother: All in good time. Did you contact the police? ``Andrew: Yes I did, but I will ring them back and get it cancelled. ``Leila: [Nods], thanks brother. ``Andrew: We will all have to go out for a meal! ``Mother: That would be nice, son. ``Andrew: I’ll talk to you later Mum, because Betty is calling me. ``Mother: Okay dear, bye. I feel much happier now.

``Leila: Have you got any copies of the local papers? ``Mother: They will be in the cupboard, if I have. ``Leila: Anything happened much, since we have been away? ``Mother: I don’t think so! Oh, there was something strange a couple of weeks ago, but you know what the paper’s are like, they blow things up out of all proportion, but something about an UFO sighting, but nothing seems to have happened.
